Recycle your gift wrap and make some DIY New Years Party Decorations! I get so engrossed with Christmas; New Year often gets a bit left out. But really, it’s a big deal, the start of a fresh, exciting New Year ahead! I know money can be tight after Christmas, so here’s a cheap and easy way to make some DIY New Years Party Decorations to add fun to your New Years celebrations.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Gift wrap paper tube inner or tissue rolls
- Gift wrap
- Sticky tape
- Sweets, jokes and confetti to go inside
- Cracker snap (optional)
- Gift bow or shiny paper (to make the confetti)
Let’s make DIY New Year’s Party Decorations!
For the Crackers:
Step 1. Cut the paper roll to size and secure with tape if necessary
Step 2. Cut the roll in the middle leaving it still attached
Step 3. Tape a cracker snapper inside
step 4. Make confetti by cutting up a Gift bow
Step 5. Fill the roll with confetti, Sweets and a joke
Step 6. Wrap the roll in recycled gift wrap (The paper will need to be approx double the length of the roll)
Step 7. Tie ribbon around the ends
Cut out patterns from your gift wrap to stick on to plain coloured crackers to create a unique matching set.
Make a paper chain!
Make use of little scraps of wrapping paper by creating a paper chain to match your crackers. Cut strips of paper then tape each one into a circle looping the next stip on as you go. Add a touch of glamour by sprinkling confetti over some sticky tape(sticky side up) then simply tape onto your strips.
This is a really good project for keeping the kids amused!
I hope I’ve inspired you to think twice before chucking out your used gift paper and bows!
Happy, safe New Year’s crafting!
