Tree up and all decorated now it’s my favourite part…decorating underneath the Christmas tree. An exciting chance to create a mini world amongst the pressies! My woodland themed decor becomes a new home for my furry animal ornaments surrounded by matching presents with snow train passing through. Today I’m sharing with you my decorating under your Christmas tree ideas with tips and inspiration for your own tree.
I like to wrap gifts in brown paper (matt side up) to give them a neutral colour base then wrap them with a wide ribbon. I’m loving my dotty hessian ribbon bought from The Range. Its a bit more fun than plain hessian. I’m sure with some patience; you could stamp white paint dots on to plain hessian to get the same effect.
I designed these Deer and Tracks templates (Free for you to print out). Just cut them out and glue onto your gifts. Simple but very effective!
Create height around the sides of your tree by standing a picnic basket up on one end or use boxes wrapped in brown paper. Arrange your display over the different heights and stand gifts in front. Add ornaments and even a cushion to your display to give texture. My bunny cushion (one of my first Youtube DIYs) fits it well with its neutral colours and fabrics. I pinned on some artificial greenery and an acorn to make it look Christmassy. Add foliage and logs to your display then sprinkle artificial snow over the top.
I tied a hessian bow and a little bell around my bunny ornament then stood him on my picnic basket.
This train was originally brightly coloured. Five coats of white plastic paint later and my snow train looks great chugging around the tree through the winter wonderland.
Paper chains are always a must in our house at Christmas time. Thank you to my daughter Millie for making them.
I love Christmas time so much, but this year it feels extra special since starting my blog and YouTube channel. There’s something magical about being able to share my projects with people like you.
